Cebu and the Longest Roadtrip Down South

I am one for the road. Eversince I began traveling, the road became my companion and my comfort. The endorphins it releases whenever I see different sceneries and the adrenaline it gives off whenever it becomes ravenous and winding are the things I always look forward to. Indeed, the road leads  our destination and determines our journey. Those are the reasons why I love to take long road trips. A good roadtrip in Southern Cebu is something you can start off with.
"Can you guess which church is this?"
The province of Cebu is a long stretch of island extending from the Northern part of Bantayan down to the Southern part of Santander. The roadtrip can go on for days if one stops over in different municipalities. However, my colleagues and I decided to take it by segment. We considered visiting different Spanish-old Churches as we passed by each southern municipality. So buckle up, journey with us and enjoy every pit stop.

The Shrine of Mama Mary, Simala
With a humble chapel roused up a shrine filled with pilgrims and devotees. The Simala I had known before was a different structure when I saw it during our first stop. I only had a peek of its exterior since I wasn't wearing their dress code. The long queue of visitors was visible from afar up to the entrance gate of the shrine.

St. Michael Archangel Church, Argao
This church is one of my favourite churches in Cebu. The Neo-Romanesque interior and the mural art at the ceing made it stand out. But in the early 14th century, Spanish-colonial church serves a remarkable influence of the spread of Catholicism in the country. This church has a personal significance. I hosted a wedding here.

The Chapel in Dalaguete
This chapel is also important for me. I hosted another wedding here. The baby blue exterior and its modern structure are worth-visiting even for the non- Catholic.

Boljoon Church and Museum
We arrived in Boljoon with light drizzles until it became a heavy rain. Nonetheless, the group found its haven in Boljoon Museum. It was an additional experience for the group to see old church relics. Personally, Boljoon Church is my dream destination for a church wedding.

Samboan
Rounding up our roadtrip passing Santander, we arrived at Samboan at 4 in the afternoon. It was my first time to have visited the place and its church. Like Boljoon, Samboan's Church is a huge-emblem of Catholicism. It depicts a Spanish-colonial structure. I even got lucky to imb up to the belfry.

Planning for a roadtrip?
1. Plan the trip properly. Which route would you like to take? Also consider the pit stops. A roadtrip in the Southern part of Cebu is historical and educational.
2. Check and double check. A private roadtrip is a respnsibility of the car's owner and the driver. Before anything else, have the car in its best condition. Check the battery, water, brakes and fuel.
3. Food. Also consider bringing heavy meals and water.
