Aloguinsan and its Alluring Attractions

At the moment of writing, I swear I am squeezing my brain to prevent writer's block while queuing for a ride home. As I keyed in every word that luckily spills out from my Broca's area, I dreamt of visiting the beach again. June is at its midweek and the transition from summer to rainy season is manifested by a downpour. However, my 3-year old self refuses to give up summer so fast. It is even amplified when Spotify plays Camila Cabello's, "Havana" dragging my imagination to my recent travel to Aloguinsan.

Opportunity Presents Itself: Aloguinsan and the Unexpected Invitation
I must admit that I am so full with work this month. The never-ending assignments, delegations, changes and adjustments were very overwhelming. There were moments where I wished to stay away from my workplace and be with myself - forgetting all my worries and pressure from work.

Then the invitation. I was so happy that the invitation to tour Aloguinsan and witness Sangka sa Kaha 2018 happened unexpectedly. It was this moment where I braved to talk to the HR that I wouldn't be working in a holiday.

During the trip to Aloguinsan, I switched my phone to airplane mode and forget everything about deadlines and work. I was as free as a bird. I felt so alive. The opportunity to take a time off from work and tour a beautiful place was so wonderful.

The World Class Bojo River
The river stretches more than a kilometer until it reaches the mouth to the sea. Its emerald water is a home of different species of mangroves, and fingerlings. The area, itself, is even a habitat of certain species of birds and fireflies.

We were ushered towards the entrance of Bojo River as we passed by palm mangroves walking on a bamboo bridge. A Cebuano "palitaw" (love song rendetion between lovers).

After a refreshing drink of coconut water, we were asked to ride the "bangka" to commence our river eco-tour. In our long stretch of our bangka ride, we were introduced to different species of mangroves. I was delighted about everything. It was just the holiday that I needed.

Through the Transparent Glass
Bojo River Tour ends at the mouth of the sea. We were then transferred to a glass bottom boat to take us to Hermit's Cove. I couldn't contain my fascination. The world down under was an exceptional wonder. The transparent glass showed us the underwater kingdom. The different types of corals, fire corals and brain-like corals, were too visible from the boat. School of different kinds of fish were also as fascinating as the corals.

The moment the boat docked at the Hermit's Cove, I immediately basked under the sun with my feet playing with water and the sand. I always love the sea. As a water element, the sea is my refuge and my happy hormone. I learned that the sand of Hermit's Cove were crashed corals deposited some years or even thousands of years ago. As the boat guide told us earlier during the trip, "nature is capable of destruction yet it is also capable of restoration - it even makes it more beautiful.

Baluarte and My Thoughts
While I was waiting for JL, I squatted on the grasses overlooking the sea. The mild breeze brushed my cheeks and waved my hair. In a moment, it allowed me to breathe in its freshness while relaxing my mind. I closed my eyes with this natural encounter. The Law of Attraction was at work again. The blissful haven in Baluarte gave me a space to become unbusy.

Imagining my workload, my office files were soon reaching out my way. For the past months, I have been very weary of the tons of assignments given to me. If it weren’t for my optimistic personality, I would have walked out and quit.

But my trip to Aloguinsan recharged my weakening self. The positive ions of the breeze kissed me with motivation and determination. After all, work is just a portion of a man’s dimension. Man also needs rest.
