The 9th Pyromusical Competition and its Showcase of Colors in the Sky

"Red, yellow, and other hues alight...
Bring them, colors, up and bright.
Look at them dazzling high...
Glistening the night sky."
- Angel, March 24, 2018

My eventful week in Manila started off with a goodbye. My brother's send-off to Italy was somewhat tearful yet fulfilling. I couldn't describe my joy when I saw my younger brother happy with what he is doing. I only told him one thing - take happy memories with you.

Ditto of what I told my brother, I am also taking the opportunity to bank as much happy memories as I could. Hence, the Manila trip was another deposit of happy moments. I watched the 9th Pyromusical Competition at SM MOA by the Bay in the evening. Not only that, I created memories with three important people in my life - a close friend, the Manila guy and of course, my mom.

I Ditched the Trip
I knew I ditched my trip to Singapore with the Manila guy a year back. It was the same date when I was faced by a huge problem in school. I wasn't able to meet him in the agreed Singapore trip. The six months of silence between the two of us was unbearable. Good thing that last December, I was able to connect with him again; thus, the journey to Mt. Pulag.

I left him with a promise that I'd be back by January in Manila which of course, I committed. No matter how I wanted to be back by February, my work schedule didn't permit me. So, I made it sure that by March, I could watch the Pyromusical Competition with him.

Beauty in the Sky
The 9th Pyromusical Competition is an annual fireworks competition participated by different countries in the world. This year, China, Germany and United Kingdom bagged the prizes, respectively. The Philippines wasn't a contender but had its fireworks displayed at the finale of the event.
The awesome showcase in the sky was a sight to behold. The dancing colors accompanied with its music left me with a lot of "oh's" and "wow's". I couldn't be more thankful with this event. It brought me closer to my mom, to my friend, and to the Manila guy.

Perspective Changed
As the dazzling lights gracefully colored the sky, I looked at the man I was with. Memories flooded to me with almost the same event in the past. We watched the fireworks display in Cebu some years ago. It was that year when we silently agreed to go out with each other. The mutual feelings were so visible yet left unexpressed by words.

I watched the fireworks back in the present. I quenched my heart with the thirst of these happy moments. My longing to be with him was undeniable. We didn't talk much but his presence was enough to make me happy.

My Mom and the Fireworks
This is by far one of the best gifts I gave to my mom on her birthday. It was an event I planned when I had my visit in Manila last January. It was a promise I kept for her birthday. I couldn't contain my joy when I saw her enjoying the fireworks display. She was so active taking videos that I didn't bother her. Her expression alone was enough for me to evaluate her thoughts.

At 10 P.M., the Pyromusical Competition had its ending. The finale was so breathtaking. I could hear the spectators had a unison reaction as ours. The event was a perfect conclusion of my stay in Manila.

Some comments of the event:
1.  I was thankful though that I had my ticket at 79 pesos from Metrodeal instead of 120 pesos at SM MOA. At least, I was able to save an ample amount.
2. It was an understatement when I was not at the venue earlier. I didn't know that I had to line up for my E-voucher to get my tickets. Good thing I heard a couple inquiring about it so I was able to follow them for the tickets.
3. A lot of people watched the event. I was thinking that next time, I would get the VIP tickets for a better view and a seating.
4. I hope people were more oriented about proper garbage disposal. After the event, the location was filled with trash. The urban jungle was a complete dumpsite.
5. At the end, I love the fireworks display. It was another endorphin-boosting activity. Happy hormones enveloped in my system no matter how tired I was.

This is part of my stay in Manila before I headed to Olongapo
